Project Management

One of Kilmarnock’s most notable strengths is the ability to manage projects of varying complexities. Since our first project in 1996, we have consistently delivered on time and on budget and are proud to say that 20 years later we continue to focus on exploring innovative ways to deliver projects that will help our clients achieve better results for greater value. With experience in contract negotiation, development of project quality control documents, budgeting, procurement, scheduling and safety, our project managers are 100% dedicated to the successful completion of our client projects.

Design and Engineering Services

With our own in-house design team, retained engineers covering mechanical and structural and the combined bench strength of our professional project management team, we have become known for our ability to think “outside the box”. Establishing a culture of innovative thinking and unique problem solving has materialized into some truly collaborative designs and engineering solutions. Using Solidworks to create 3D designs helps both our fabricators and our clients visualize what the finished product should not only look like but also how it should function. We specialize in designing customized processing lines and equipment, complex structures to access hard to reach equipment, machinery guarding, racking, monorails, hoists, conveying equipment, high pressure piping systems, to name a few.

Plant Expansions and Retrofits

The most recent project was the re-commissioning of a fibre board plant that had been closed for 5 years. In just over 8 months we were able to bring this plant back up to full production with a crew of 30 tradespeople. We have also been involved in the complete dismantling of manufacturing plants in Ontario and the US as well as major expansions and retrofits of food and pharmaceutical plants, alternative energy, water and waste water, and packaging plants.

Non-Destructive Testing

We have the capability to analyze, oversee and perform the non-destructive testing of weld joints including radiography, dye penetrate, ultrasonic, sensitive gas and magnetic particle testing.

Millwright and Rigging Services

Rigging equipment up to 500,000 lbs. is not uncommon. However, our specialty lies in rigging equipment into hard-to-reach spaces. With twenty years of rigging experience, we have devised innovative rigging procedures that come complete with engineered lift plans and industry specific safety equipment and procedures.

CNC/Manual Machining and Water Jet Cutting

Our specialty here is custom machining and reverse engineering. We are not a high production machine shop. What we do excel at is fast-turn around, custom machine building, and supporting our tradespeople in the field. Our clients have come to rely on us for emergency after-hour repairs to ensure their processing lines keep running. Our machinists are responsive and driven in their desire to keep our manufacturing clients functioning at all times.

Custom Fabrication

With one of Ontario’s largest privately-held portfolios of weld data sheets and procedures, we have the ability to undertake a very large variety of weldments. We are Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certified in CSA 47.1 and 47.2 - Division 2.1 and have seven (7) Welding Supervisors, one (1) Level 2 Certified CSA Welding Inspector and over 40 welders on staff, many of whom are Red Seal Certified. We have experience with alloys such as stainless steel, Inconel, aluminum, titanium and hasteloy. We are knowledgeable in processes such as GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, plastic welding and orbital welding.

Process and Power Piping

We have certificates of authorization from T.S.S.A. for CSA Standard B51 (Repair and alteration of boilers, pressure vessels, piping and fittings) and ASME B31.1 (Fabrication and assembly of power piping) and ASME B31.3 and CSA B51 (Fabrication and assembly and erection of process piping). We also have our Certified Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector on staff who continually develops and manages our TSSA Quality Control Manual and consults regularly with our clients for code compliance, risk assessment and system design registrations.
